Best of Salzburg - the great Baroque City (full day)

Experience Salzburg, worldwide known as the birthplace of Mozart and the city of Sound of Music. Also called as "Rome of the North" Salzburg owes its fame to its magnificent monuments in predominant Baroque style. The city was declared to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been ruled by the prince-archbishops for many centuries, who left their traces and created a cultural and historical heritage of unique importance and beauty. Renowned architects and artists worked throughout the centuries and built architectural jewels as the fortress of Hohensalzburg, the Cathedral and many glorious palaces. On our full day city tour we will visit all the important sights in the new and the old town, located on both sides of the river Salzach. This also includes visits of the Mozart houses, the cathedral, the St. Peter's church and the fortress on the top of the city mountain. Additionally this tour takes you to the Castle of Leopoldskron (von Trapp family home) and the castle of Hellbrunn (Gazebo).

This tour starts in the new town with the visit to the Mirabell gardens. Then we will arrive at the Markart square, where you have the chance to see Mozart's residence. From there we will continue the tour by crossing the river Salzach and by going up to Mount Mönchsberg, where the Museum of Modern Arts with its restaurant M 32 is located. There you can enjoy Lunch and a real breathtaking view across the city. After Lunch break you will visit the old town with all its churches and monuments, like the fortress of Hohensalzburg, Cathedral, the St. Peter's church with its old cemetery, the Nonnberg Abbey, Mozart's birthplace, the old market square and the most famous street of Salzburg, the Getreidegasse. Then we will drive to the famous castles, first to the Castle of Leopoldskron, which was used in the movie Sound of Music for the von Trapp home and finally to the Castle and the Park of Hellbrunn with its Gazebo. Then we go back to the city or train station.
